Microsoft has opened gates for registrations of its much-awaited operating system Windows 8, latest in the line of Windows OS. This is applicable for machines running Windows 7 versions (applicable for basic and enterprise) and which have been purchased between June 2, 2012 and January 31, 2013.

Here although the official release date of Windows is doomed as 26th Oct, the extension is up to Jan 31st. This is essential as users might go a different configuration, which might not bear Windows 8 but still would be able to upgrade.

The tweet that circulated this goes like this:

“”The @Windows upgrade offer is now available in 140 countries. Register now! http://windowsupgradeoffer.com.”

The upgrading part is quite simple and like any other software users will have to provide the 25-digit Windows 7 Other Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) key. Moreover, when finally October 26th arrives, Microsoft would start sending out promo codes through e-mail; which via the upgrade assistant’s help will upgrade the OS to Windows 8.

Microsoft wants $14.99 for Windows 8 pro versions. Indian consumers would be able to avail the same at  Rs. 699; something very affordable.

This special price offer is valid until Feb 28th 2013. The offer would still be available afterwards but with some hole in your pockets; details of which isn’t not available yet.
