Tamron has announced two brand new lenses for full-frame cameras, the Tamron 85mm F1.8 and the Tamron 90mm F2.8. The first one, the Tamron SP 85mm f/1.8 Di VC USD is world’s first image stabilized 85mm f/1.8 lens for full-frame DSLRs. The new lens allow both lens firmware and AF fine tuning to be performed using an external USB dock.
The Tamron 85mm f/1.8 packs sports an optical design with 13 elements in 9 groups, two of which are low dispersion lens elements [1 low dispersion + 1 extra low dispersion]. The lens has a 9-blade diaphragm with rounded blades. It also features an electromagnetic diaphragm, which means that there is no physical aperture lever on the back of the lens. The electromagnetic aperture control allows for more accurate results. Other lens features include USD AF Motor, full-time manual focus, nano coating, Extended Bandwidth & Angular Dependency (eBAND) and Broad-Band Anti-Reflection (BBAR) coatings, fluorine coating on front element and weather sealing. It offers an aperture range of f/1.8 to f/16 and comes with VC Image Stabilization. It is also compatible with TAP-in Console.
The Tamron SP 90mm f/2.8 Di VC USD 1:1 Macro comes with boosted image stabilization system, featuring an accelerometer than can compensate for shake on the X-Y axis up to 3.5 stops. The optical design features an LD and two XLD elements, and uses eBAND and BBAR coatings. The lens comes with a USD motor optimized for macro ranges along with slight back-and-forth motion common during close-up shooting. The Floating Lens group is also positioned to maximize optical performance. The lens also offers full-time manual override. This enables focusing down to 11.8″ for true 1:1 magnification. Additional features include dust- and moisture-resistant construction with a fluorine coating on the front element, eBAND, BBAR coatings, and a nine-blade aperture diaphragm. The 90mm Macro will be available in Canon EF, Nikon F, and Sony A mounts. It offers an aperture range of f/2.8 to f/32 and is compatible with TAP-in Console.
