MWC 2016: Intex Aqua Fish With Sailfish OS 2.0, 5-Inch Display Launched

At the MWC 2016 trade show, Intex has unveiled the it’s Aqua Fish smartphone running Jolla Sailfish OS 2.0. The company had announced its partnership with Jolla and plans to launch a Sailfish smartphone last year. The Intex Aqua Fish smartphone will be launched in India, in April this year.

The Intex Aqua Fish sports a 5-inch TFT display with HD [720 x 1280 pixels] resolution. It is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor along with 2GB DDR3 RAM and 16GB internal storage, which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card. The dual-SIM supporting smartphone runs the latest Sailfish OS 2.0 OS. The Intex Aqua Fish sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. Connectivity options on the smartphone include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and Micro-USB 2.0. It is backed by a 2500mAh battery. The smartphone will be available in Black and Orange colour variants.

Jolla Sailfish OS 2.0 was unveiled at MWC Barcelona, last year. The updated OS offers various new features such as an improved UI and new software integration capabilities for partners. MWC 2016: Zopo Speed 8 With 10-core CPU Launched Alongside Speed 7C

At MWC 2016, Zopo has launched two new smartphones, namely the the Zopo Speed 7C and the Zopo Speed 8. The Zopo Speed 8 is being touted as the world’s first 10-core smartphone. The Zopo Speed 7C comes with wooden battery cover as the highlight of the device. The pricing or availability details of the new smartphones have not been shared as yet.

The Zopo Speed 8 measures 152.5 x 76.35 x 9.8mm in size and weighs 136 grams. It features a 5.5-inch full-HD [1080p] display with a pixel density of 400ppi. It is powered by a deca-core Helio X20 MediaTek processor along with 4GB RAM, and 32GB internal storage, which can be further expanded via a microSD card. The smartphone runs Android Marshmallow. The smartphone sports a 21-megapixel rear-camera with Sony IMX230 sensor and LED flash. There is also an 8-megapixel front camera onboard. Connectivity options include 4G Indian LTE bands, 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and other standard connectivity options.  The dual-SIM smartphone is backed by a 3600mAh battery.

On the other hand, the Zopo Speed 7C  measures 146.1 x 70.6 x 8.65mm in size and weighs 136 grams. It features a 5-inch IPS display with HD [720 x 1280 pixels] resolution and a pixel density of 293ppi. It is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 SoC along with 2GB RAM, and 16GB internal storage [expandable storage via microSD card]. The dual-SIM Zopo Speed 7C runs Android 5.1 Lollipop OS. It sports a 13.2-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, OmniVision sensor, and f/2.2 aperture. There is also a 5-megapixel front camera on board. Connectivity options include 4G LTE apart from 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, GPS/ A-GPS, Bluetooth, GPS, OTG, Micro-USB, and USB OTG.  It is backed by a 2500mAh removable battery. The Zopo Speed 7C will be available in Bamboo, Ebony, Black Apricot, and Phoenix Feather back cover options.

MWC 2016: Xiaomi Mi 5 With Snapdragon 820 SoC, 16MP Camera Announced

At MWC 2016, Xiaomi  has announced it’s much-anticipated smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi 5. The Xiaomi Mi 5 sports a curved design on the back, similar to the Mi Note. There will also be a higher-end ceramic back option called Xiaomi Mi5 Pro.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 measures 69.20 x 144.55 x 7.25mm in size and weighs only 129g. The smartphone has almost no side bezels and comes with a 3D ceramic body. It sports a 5.15-inch IPS display with a Full HD [1080p] resolution, and ultra-bright 16-LED backlighting. The physical home button [placed below the screen] is also a fingerprint scanner. The Xiaomi Mi 5 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor along with 3GB LPDDR4 RAM. The 32GB internal storage variant comes with a clock speed of 1.8 GHz and 3GB RAM, while the 64GB has a clock speed of 2.15GHz.  Users will also have the option of  128GB  UFS 2.0 memory, which promises significant increases of 80% and more over eMMC 5.0. It runs company’s own MIUI 7 OS, based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.

The Xiaomi Mi5 sports a 16MP camera with Sony IMX 298 sensor with phase detection auto focus [PDAF] and deep trench isolation technology, an aperture of f/2.0 and 4-axis optical image stabilization[OIS]. It can also record 4K videos. On the front, there is a 4MP UltraPixel camera. Connectivity options include 3x Carrier aggregation,  4G+ or 4G Advanced [capable of theoretical Cat.12 LTE speeds of up to 600 Mbps], VoLTE and NFC. The Mi 5 is backed by a 3000 mAh battery and supports Quick Charge 3.0.

MWC 2016: LG X Cam, X Screen Smartphones With 13MP Cameras Launched

At MWC 2016, LG has announced its new X-Series of smartphones, starting with the X cam and X screen. The new X-Series of smartphones will be launched in markets across Asia, Europe and Latin America, starting next month. The pricing of the new X-Series smartphones will also be revealed, next month. The new X-Series offers a great camera and advanced display, without all the high-end features of premium smartphone. “Everyone has a favourite smartphone feature. At LG, we think there’s room for devices that do one thing very well and that customers shouldn’t have to pay for features that they don’t want. At the end of the day, we’re committed to offering consumers more choices,” said Juno Cho, President & CEO, LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.

The LG X cam measures 147.5 x 73.6 x 6.9mm in size and weighs 118 grams. It features a 5.2-inch full-HD [1080 x 1920pixels] In-cell display. It also features a 3D bending glass which gives it curved finish on the front. It is powered by a 1.14GHz octa-core processor along with 2GB RAM, and 16GB internal storage. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. The smartphone sports a 13-megapixel and a 5-megapixel dual rear cameras along with 8-megapixel front camera. The LG X cam supports 4G LTE connectivity and is backed by a 2520mAh battery. The smartphone will be available in Titan Silver, White, Gold, and Pink Gold colour options.

The LG  X screen measures 142.6 x 71.8 x 7.1mm in size and features a 4.93-inch In-cell display with a HD [720 x 1280pixels] resolution along with a secondary 1.76-inch ‘Always On’ LCD display with a resolution of 520 x 80pixels. The second screen shows notifications for apps, calls without interrupting the current activity or just play music, while also allowing users to check time, date, battery status and other notifications without ever having to turn on the phone. It is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor along with a 2GB RAM, and 16GB internal storage. The Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based smartphone sports a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The also supports 4G LTE connectivity and is backed by a 2300mAh battery. The LG X Screen will be available in Black , White, and Pink Gold colours.

MWC 2016: LG Stylus 2 With 5.7-Inch Display, Nano-Coated Pen Launched

At MWC 2016, LG has announced another smartphone, called Stylus 2. The company has not revealed any pricing details as yet. The LG Stylus 2 will be available in South Korean starting next month, followed by other markets including Asia, Europe, and the US later. The new Stylus 2 smartphone features a pen with a nano-coated tip. The Stylus features include Pen Pop [shows a popup menu when the stylus is removed and offers shortcuts such as Pop Memo and Pop Scanner], Pen Keeper [notifies users when the stylus bay is empty].

“LG Stylus 2 provides both the big screen and premium notetaking functions of a premium large phone at a price of a mid-tier phone. This device is another example of our commitment to the mass-tier segment where there is so much opportunity for growth and creativity,” said  Juno Cho, President, CEO, LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.

The LG Stylus 2 measures 155 x 79.6 x 7.4mm in size and weighs 145 grams. It features a 5.7-inch In-Cell display with HD [720 x 1280pixels] resolution. It is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor along with 1.5GB LPDDR3 RAM, and 16GB internal storage [supports microSD card]. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. The smartphone sports a 13-megapixel rear camera and also packs an 8-megapixel front camera. Connectivity options include LTE, 3G, 2G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, and Micro-USB. The LG Stylus 2 is backed by a 3000mAh battery. It . The LG Stylus 2 will be available in Brown, Titan, and White colour options.

MWC 2016: Gionee S8 With 5.5-Inch ‘3D Touch’ Display, 16MP Camera Launched

At MWC 2016, Gionee has launched its new flagship smartphone, called the S8. The Gionee S8 has been priced at EUR 449 and will be available by end of March in Rose Gold, Silver, and Gold colour options. The smartphone features 3D Touch pressure sensitive display as one of the biggest highlights of the smartphone. The company says that the smartphone can sense 3 levels of force including touch to select an app, tap to preview the content of an app, and press to run the app.

The Gionee S8 measures 154.3 x 74.9 x 7mm in size and weighs 148 grams. The company says that this is one of the narrowest widths for a 5.5-inch phone, while the display thickness is just 0.693mm display thickness. There is also an integrated fingerprint sensor in the home button.It sports a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) AMOLED display and is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor along with 4GB RAM, and 64GB internal storage. It runs Amigo 3.2 OS based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The smartphone comes with ‘Dual WhatsApp’ and ‘Dual WeChat’ features

The Gionee S8 sports a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture, PDAF, laser autofocus, and LED flash. It comes with features such as text recognition (OCR) support [English and Chinese], beauty effects for video, time lapse, and Slow motion. There is an 8-megapixel front camera on board as well. Connectivity options include dual 4G, FDD, and TDD, 7 modes and 14 bands. The dual-SIM [Micro-SIMs] smartphone is backed by a 3000mAh battery.

MWC 2016: Lenovo Vibe K5, Vibe K5 Plus Budget Smartphones Launched

At MWC 2016, Lenovo has announced two new smartphones: the Lenovo Vibe K5, and the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus. Both smartphone share similar specifications, except the display resolution and processor. While the Lenovo Vibe K5 has been priced at $129, the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus will cost you $149. The Lenovo Vibe K5 and Vibe K5 Plus will be available in Silver, Grey, and Gold colour options.

MWC 2016: Obi Worldphone MV1 Dual-SIM Smartphone With 5-Inch Display Launched

At the MWC 2016 in Barcelona, Obi Worldphone has launched a new smartphone, called the MV1. The company is targeting young professionals as potential customers. The new smartphone will be available in 2GB and 1GB RAM variants. The 2GB variant has been priced at $149 [approx. Rs 10,000], while the 1GB RAM has been priced at $139 [approx. Rs 9,500]. It will be available immediately in Asia and Africa, followed by Latin America and Europe in March. The smartphone will be available via online and traditional retail channels.

“This is an industry with 200 different brands vying for consumers’ attention. There will be 1.4 billion Android phones produced in 2016 alone, so there needs to be a way to stand apart from the pack. The components for all these different phones are mass produced, in the same countries, and often in the same exact factories. What we’ve done with the Obi Worldphone from the very beginning is show that it’s possible to have a beautifully designed phone that fits into your lifestyle at an accessible price without sacrificing form and technology. The Obi Worldphone MV1 measures 145.6 x 72.6 x 8.95mm in size and weighs 149 grams. It features a 5-inch HD [720 x 1280 pixels] display with a pixel density of 294ppi and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The company has teamed up with San Francisco-based Ammunition for the design. It is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 processor along with Adreno 304 GPU, and 16GB internal storage [expandable storage up to 64GB via microSD]. The MV1 runs Lifespeed [company’s UI]. It is said to be available in both stock Android Lollipop 5.1 and Cyanogen OS 12.1.1 variants. The Cyanogen OS has been added to allow your users to personalise and customise their devices. Other features include Truecaller and LiveDisplay [adjusts the user’s screen based on light].

The Obi Worldphone MV1 sports an 8-megapixel rear auto-focus camera with LED flash and a f/2.2 aperture. There is also a 2-megapixel front camera onboard. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi direct, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, GLONASS, and Micro-USB. The dual-SIM [one Micro + a Nano-SIM] supporting smartphone is backed by a 2500mAh battery.

MWC 2016: HP Elite x3 With Windows 10 Mobile Launched With Two Docks

At MWC 2016 trade show, HP has launched its flagship Windows 10 Mobile smartphone, called the Elite x3. The HP Elite x3 supports Windows 10’s Continuum feature and will be available with two docks [while one will allow the Elite x3 to serve as a desktop, the other would convert it into a laptop].

The HP Elite x3 sports a 5.96-inch QHD [1440 x 2560pixels] AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 4 protection. It also houses a fingerprint scanner on the rear side and  comes with IP67 rating, which means the smartphone can withstand immersion in water for up to 1 metre for 30 minutes. The smartphone is powered by 2.15GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor along with 4GB RAM, and 64GB internal storage.

The Elite x3 features a 15-megapixel rear camera, and an 8-megapixel camera front-facing camera. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi MiMo 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, LTE, 3G, etc. It si backed by a 4150mAh battery with support for wireless charging using Qi or PMA standard. The HP Elite x3 smartphone offers many security features on this device. It is offering 256-bit key full disk encryption, and TPM 2.0 along with dual biometrics.

It allows the smartphone to serve as a desktop utilising Windows 10’s Continuum feature. The Mobile Extender sports a 12.5-inch full-HD display [1920 x 1080pixels], a keyboard, and a battery. It requires the Elite x3 for the processing power.

MWC 2016: ZTE Blade V7, Blade V7 Lite Launched Alongside Spro Plus Mobile Projector

At MWC 2016, ZTE has launched its new Blade V7 and Blade V7 Lite smartphones. The new ZTE Blade V7 smartphone will be available in Germany, Mexico, South Africa, and Spain among other markets in the summer. The pricing details about the Blade V7 have not been revealed as yet. However, the ZTE Blade V7 Lite will launch in Russia first, followed by Germany, Mexico, Spain, and Thailand by the spring. The company also announced its new Android-based Spro Plus ‘smart projector’.

The ZTE Blade V7 measures 146 x 72.5 x 7.5mm in size and will be available in Gold and Silver colour options. It features a 5.2-inch full-HD [1080 x 1920 pixels] IPS display. The smartphone is powered by a 1.3GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor along with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal [expandable via microSD card]. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. The Blade V7 features a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF and dual-tone LED flash. There is also a 5-megapixel front camera also on board. Connectivity options include supports 4G LTE, 3G, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, USB OTG, Micro-USB, and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. The dual-SIM smartphone is backed by a 2500mAh battery. Other features include accelerometer, proximity, ambient light, compass, and gyroscope.

The ZTE Blade V7 Lite features a 5-inch HD [720 x 1280pixels] display. It is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735P processor along with 2GB RAM. It features an 8-megapixel front and rear cameras with LED flash. Other specifications are similar to Blade V7, however, it comes with a fingerprint sensor.

The ZTE Spro Plus is being touted by the company as a ‘smart projector’ as it runs Android 4.4 KitKat. It features features an 8.4-inch TFT QHD [1440 x 2560 pixels] AMOLED display. The WXGA projector offers 500lm brightness and also sports auto-focus. It can project 80-inch picture from a distance from 2.4 metres. It si powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor [the LTE variant features a Snapdragon 625 SoC]. The device is supported by 3GB RAM and comes in 32GB and 128GB internal storage [expandable up to 2TB via a microSD]. The device is Wi-Fi enabled and is backed by a huge 11500mAh battery. The ZTE Spro Plus mobile projector will be available from mid-2016.
