Synaptics ForcePad seems to be the next generation touchpad for laptops and Ultrabooks
The Synaptics ForcePad, a pressure sensitive touchpad might be the next generation trackpad equipped with the laptops
As we have been witnessing a lot of laptops from the past few years we have also come across the Touchpads that are made available in these devices. Although there has been a lot of changes in the laptops from the primitive machines to the latest Ultrabook but the touchpad has not seen a lot variety of changes.
These changes are also not very advanced or upgraded as earlier we had the Clickpads which were equipped with two switches with the touchpad but now some devices comes without the Clickpads.
However, now we are going to see a new big step that is being taken in terms of the touchpad of these laptops or Ultrabooks as Synaptics is going to introduce the next generation technology a ForcePad. The ForcePad looks similar to the earlier versions of touchpad but the only difference is it has no clicking mechanism.
This ForcePad is designed to have a large pressure sensitive touch pad which can detect up to 1000grams of pressure from a maximum of five points. This will allow the users to press the ForcePad anywhere and use multi-finger gestures such as right click can be activated with 2-finger or also use some new cool pressure-sensitive gestures.
The new applications are needed to be written by the developers in order to take advantage of these capabilities. It is also believed that Synaptics is working with Microsoft in order to add support for the Windows 8 gestures.
As there will be no clicking mechanism so now the harder you will press in this ForcePad longer will the action will continue. So we can say that some of the earlier definitions of the TrackPad are really going to change after its release. Along with it an auto-calibration feature is also included to adjust to its environment and offer consistent performance regardless of the base on which the laptop has been placed.
