Although e-readers and netbooks have taken a considerable pounding after the advent of tablets, Sony is determined to add a new Reader to its line of products. According to Hot Hardware, the electronics giant has launched a 6-inch e-reader called the Reader PRS-T2 on the 17th of this month. The 6-inch device is much sleeker as well as slimmer than its earlier models and is available for $129.99 on J&R.

The 6-inch Sony Reader PRS-T2 features an antiglare E-Ink Pearl V220 touch panel with Clear Touch Infrared Technology that offers a resolution of 600 x 800p. The device comes packed with a Stylus pen and offers 2GB of internal storage which is expandable up-to 32GB via microSD.

Other features include Wi-Fi and USB 2.0, while the battery gives up-to 42 days of usage with the Wi-Fi on after a single full charge. The device weighs less than 6 ounces and measures only 0.38-inch in depth.

The Sony Reader PRS-T2 offers a simplified homescreen along with quicker page turns, smoother zooming, and comes equipped with 6 built-in dictionaries, Evernote Clearly and Facebook for Reader as well as a free copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone on purchasing the black variant. The device can be connected to the internet only through Wi-Fi.

Consumers can further equip the e-reader with a simple cover and a cover with light priced at $35 and $50 respectively, while inbox accessories include a USB cable, the aforementioned Stylus pen, a quick start guide and a Warranty card.
