So how much of RAM does the iPhone5 have?
Apple’s Senior VP of marketing Phil Schiller did introduce a lot of new components and features of the iPhone5 including an A6 processor and it’s 2X speed when compared to A5. There were however no words on the Random Access memory
Apple’s Senior VP of marketing Phil Schiller did introduce a lot of new components and features of the iPhone5 including an A6 processor and it’s 2X speed when compared to A5.
There was one thing though which went unannounced; Random Access memory. Sadly enough, but this was left out in the rumors and also the discussion forums. A few speculations that arose pointed towards a 1 GB RAM; an increment of 512 MB over the iPhone4S and iPhone4. Those few speculators were correct. The iPhone5 indeed has 1 GB of solid RAM this time.
Now, this could bring joy not only to the developers to work with but also consumers who will have to wait for web pages to refresh in subsequent tabs.
iFans did a little bit of investigation initially and based on the component numerals listed on A6 confirmed that the RAM was 1 GB. Recently iFixit’s Kyle Wiens got his hands on Samsung’s (Samsung being one of the manufacturers) A6 component guide.
You can see the density of 8Gb of Mobile DRAM =1 GB RAM corresponding to A6, iPhone5’s new processor.
