Sigma has announced the addition of two high-performance APS-C format lenses: the Sigma 50-100mm F1.8 DC HSM Art Lens and the Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens. “Sigma’s aim is to provide high-performance lens options that lead with innovation and break new boundaries for every photographic scenario our customers can dream up. The Sigma 50-100mm F1.8 DC HSM Art is first constant aperture F1.8 telephoto zoom lens. The lens features three FLD (F Low Dispersion) glass elements, one SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass element, and one high-refractive index, high-dispersion glass element to minimize aberrations. Also, the new Hyper Sonic Motor is 30% slimmer and provides fast and accurate AF. The lens features highly durable polycarbonate diaphragm made with fluorine,while the blades feature carbon feather film [for smooth operation even during continuous shooting]. It has a 35mm equivalent zoom range of 75-150mm. The lens weighs about 3.28 pounds [1490g], which is quite heavy actually. Other specs of the new lens include 21 elements in 15 groups, an 82mm filter thread, a minimum focusing distance of 0.95m [~3.12ft], a length of 170.7mm [~6.72in], a 9-blade circular aperture, and a new HSM motor. The new Sigma 50-100mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art lens is designed for APS-C sensors with Canon EF, Nikon F, and Sigma SA mount.
The Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary lens offer a maximum aperture of F1.4. It features one aspherical element and one double-sided aspherical element. Other spec include 9 elements / 7 groups, minimum aperture of F16, 52mm filter thread, minimum focus distance of 11.8in, and weighs 9.3oz. The new Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens will be available in Sony E-Mount and Micro Four Thirds mount.
