The Sigma 20mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art lens for Nikon mount is now in stock at B&H and Adorama. The fastest 20mm lens(or the world’s first 20mm f/1.4 lens) is available starting today. Sigma had announced what is being touted as the world’s widest f/1.4 lens – the Sigma 20mm f/1.4 ART at a price of $999 [now available on B&H at $899]. The lens comes in Nikon F mount version and Canon EF mount version.
The Sigma 20mm f/1.4 ART is designed for 24×36 DSLR cameras and comes with a focal length of 20mm along with large f/1.4 aperture. It features In-lens HSM autofocus motor with full-time manual override in auto-focus mode. The lens construction consists of 15 elements in 11 groups. It uses a large double aspherical lens that is 59mm in diameter. There are two FLD elements and five SLD elements to correct chromatic aberrations. The company says the new lens is designed to offer very low distortion with minimizing coma aberration, flare and ghosting.
The lens has a total length of 129.8mm and a maximum diameter of 90.7mm [basically, a diameter and length of 3.6 inches by 5.1 inches]. It weighs around 950g. The new lens features rounded 9 diaphragm blades. The lens offers a minimum aperture of f/16, 94.5 degrees angle of view (35mm), minimum focusing distance of 10.9 inches and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:7.1 (0.14x). The prime lens is optimized for full-frame high-resolution cameras and is also compatible with crop sensor cameras [offering an equivalent focal length of 30mm (Nikon and Sigma) or 32mm (Canon)].
