Photokina 2012: Canon displays PowerShot G15 which comes with a price tag of $500
Canon PowerShot G15 displayed at the photokina, which offers the fastest auto focus capability among Canon compact models
Canon displays a PowerShot G15 at the photokina, which is a compact camera that offers a comfortable focus effect. The lens provided is super wide of about 28mm and 0.36 at telephoto focal length 140mm. The lens provided is f/1.8-2.8. This model seems is another addition to the G-series line of cameras but it has got a much larger sensor then its earlier predecessors.
It is also said that this camera has a special advantage over the early models as it will perform much better in low light and will also have the capability to blur the background much more while shooting portraits.
Other important specifications included in G15 are 12.1 megapixels, 1/1.7” type CMOS sensor and a DIGIC 5 processor. It offers a ISO range of about 80 to 12800. It is also capable of record HD videos at 24fps along with stereo sound with the help of its built in microphone and a dedicated recording button. It also has a mode dial up top which has a dedicated exposure controlling dial, helping is precise EV control.
The G15 has a fixed 3inch 920K dot PureColor II G screen along with an optical view finder. The device has also the fastest G series focusing camera, according to Canon it is 53 percent faster than the G12 in focusing. It also has Canon’s Intelligent IS which is optical image stabilization. The device is priced at $500.
