Panasonic has announced a new compact system camera for selfies enthusiasts, called the Lumix GF8. The pricing and availability details of the camera have not been revealed as yet. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF8 is a successor of the Lumix GF7, which was launched last January. Most of the major changes in the new camera are all software related. The camera will be available in different colour variants including Brown, Pink, and Orange.
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF8 features a 16MP Live MOS Four Thirds sensor. The camera supports a maximum ISO value of 25600 and offers a burst mode of 5fps [AFC, 1-area AF]. It is also capable of full-HD video recording along with 1080/60p or 24p videos using AVCHD or MP4. To supports selfie shots, the camera features a 3-inch tillable touchscreen LCD with 1.04M dots resolution, that can flip upward till 180 degrees. The touchscreen display also offers easy focusing. The DMC-GF8 features built-in Wi-Fi connectivity, for quickly sharing your pictures from your smartphone. It also allows remote camera control.
Among the new features [almost all related to selfies]on the compact interchangeable lens camera, users can now retouch skin, brighten teeth and appear to be skinnier. The beauty function features modes like Soft Skin, Defocusing, and Slimming effects. The Beauty Retouch function allows users to add finishing touches to selfies, including putting on make-up. After capturing the selfie, one can tweak the picture further with Aesthetic Retouch [clears any blemishes on your skin, whitens teeth or even gives a face-lift]. You can also auto-engage the shutter with the Face Shutter and Buddy Shutter functions [allows you to snap a picture if you wave your hand in front of the lens or if the camera detects two faces close to each other in the frame].
