Olympus Japan has announced a new successor to it’s SH-2 camera in Japan, called the SH-3. The Olympus Stylus SH-3 has been price at just under ¥40,000 (~$350) and will be available in Japan from February 26. The price and availability details outside Japan are not clear as yet.
The new Olympus Stylus SH-3 is a light update to the SH-2 model, which was introduced last year, in March. It offers 4K video at a paltry 15 fps as it’s USP. Other additions include about a half dozen new Art Filters. Otherwise, it features the similar sensor and optical zoom among other specifications. The upper portion of the camera body is made from an aluminum alloy. It is quite lightweight at just 271g and sports a compact form factor. It will be available in Silver and Black color options. Olympus is also offering an optional protective leather case.
The Olympus Stylus SH-3 features a 1/2.3-inch 16-megapixel CMOS sensor and 24x optical zoom 25-600mm f/3.0-6.9 equivalent built-in lens with 5-axis image stabilization. It comes with 4K resolution video recording capability at up to 15fps with its new ‘Advanced Movie Mode’ along with RAW image capture. The camera features an ISO range of 125-6400, and continuous shooting speed up to 11.5fps. It also features a night scene capture mode. The six new Art Filters include light tone, cross process, gentle sepia, vintage, Lee New Clair, and watercolor.
