NVIDIA confirms 30 smartphones in the pipeline
NVIDIA does have some plans for this year. The Chip maker has revealed that the Tegra 3 chipset would be made available across 30 smartphones this year. And this is exclusive of the Kai platform to be released next month. Moreover this number also doesn’t include the tablets like the Asus Transformer Prime.
However, there might be some discrimination based on availability. There are chances of these smartphones being region specific and not all of them might be available at yours.
Reportedly, these smartphones would come at cheaper rates compared to its predecessors. Atleast half of them will bear a price tag under $300, compared to Tegra 2′s zero.
Further to this, NVIDIA has also announced about their LTE supported processors, namely the Icera 410 and 500 LTE/HSPA+. Now this leaves us with ground enough looking for other options apart from Qualcomm. The Icera 410 has been validated for use on AT&T’s LTE network and will most likely be restrained to tablets as it isn’t an all-in-one solution.
“NVIDIA’s second-generation LTE modem – the Icera 500 chipset – addresses high end smartphones as well as tablets and clamshell devices, and provides worldwide LTE support. We expect to see the Icera 500 modem in devices in 2013.”-quoted Anandtech
