YouTube will not be an integral part in iOS 6. That’s guaranteed as per info floating around the web followed by Cupertino’s confirmation the other day. However, that’s not a drastic decision but by an end of the license agreement between Apple and one of its biggest rival, Google.

“Our license to include the YouTube app in iOS has ended,” reportedly said Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller.

However, users can still view from Apple’s own browser, Safari. It’s only that the app will not come as part of the iOS 6 platform.

Instead, users with new iOS 6-powered devices, or those with older hardware who upgrade, can view YouTube videos in either Safari, iOS’s built-in browser, or in an app that Google will distribute through the App Store, Muller added.

Whatever may be the reasons; this is indeed the second such Google app departure from the Apple operating system. Sometime back we heard about Apple in-house maps replacing Google maps and now this.

“These two corporations, who clearly don’t like each other, are in intense competition,” reportedly said Ezra Gottheil of Technology Business Research. “Each is protecting its own core business.”

“If, in fact, there will be a replacement [for Apple's YouTube app], that sounds like it should be good for users,” Apple has rarely updated its own app. Theoretically, Google would be motivated to refresh the app more frequently, and to regularly add new features” Gottheil added.

“It’s pretty clear that YouTube is pretty important to Apple, but at some point they may have decided that they just didn’t want to pay the money [for the license],” Gottheil said.

The move actually comes as a welcome gift for Google. The exclusion of a dedicated YouTube app from iOS will now allow Google to insert ads into its YouTube app to earn more dollars from the service. The inbuilt YouTube app did not allow displaying ads.

As an iOS user, what do you think about this move?
