New Nikon 18-55mm VR DX Lens To Launch In Early 2016

New Nikon 18-55mm VR DX lens is coming in early 2016. According to Nikon, rumors, the company will announce a new 18-55mm VR DX lens, early next year. The new lens will most likely be attached/announced/sold with a new DX camera. There hasn’t been any clue as to which DX camera, it will be, if there is one at all. The reports states that the new lens might also be a replacement for the current Nikkor AF-S 17-55mm f/2.8G IF-ED DX. We are not sure whether the new lens will be a 2.8 or just another 3.5-5.6. We will have to wait for more details.

Recently, Nikon had filed a patent for a 16-55mm f/3.5-5.6 VR DX lens, that will probably replace the current 18-55mm models. The company also filed a patent for a new version of the 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 VR lens for the Nikon 1 system. Nikon is also looking into a built-in flash and has patented an interesting way of hiding the built-in flash in a compact camera. The company has a patent for a Lytro-like selective focusing RGB sensor. Also, Nikon and Cosina have filed a patent in Japan for a new PC-E 19mm f/4D full frame tilt-shift lens designed for DSLR cameras. Nikon had recently also filed a patent for a PC-E 19mm f/4 full frame mirrorless tilt-shift lens.

In other news, there will be up to 30% price increase on Nikon lenses in Europe from January 1st, 2016. Also, Nikon is rumored to reduce their warranty in Europe from 3 to 1 year.
