After launching the world’s first 4K resolution Xperia Z5 Premium smartphone along with Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact at IFA 2015 trade show, Sony has launched new Walkman models, H.ear headphones along with a 4K Android TV and a portable short throw projector as well.
Sony has launched two new Walkmans, the NW-A20 and NW-ZX100HN. The Japanese tech firm claims that the two portable music Walkman devices feature DSEE HX software, which upscales the low bitrate audio files to a near high-res quality. Other features include Bluetooth and NFC, however there is no Wi-Fi connectivity. The devices would be available starting next month. However, there has been no word on the pricing of any of the Sony Walkman portable media players.
The NW-A20 measure 44 x 109 x 9 mm in size and weighs 66 grams. It features 2.2-inch colour TFT displays with QVGA (320×240 pixels) resolution and white LED-backlight. This model comes in two variants – NW-A25HN [16GB internal storage] and NW-A27HN [64GB internal storage]. Both variants support micro SD card slots, which can support up to 128GB cards. Other features include digital noise cancellation, LDAC Bluetooth streaming and company’s newly introduced H.ear range of noise cancelling headphones – MDR-NW750N and MDR-NW750NE [also announced during the event]. The NW-A20 model offers up to 50 hours of battery life while listening to mp3 files and 30 hours when listening ‘Hi-Res Audio’. The 16GB variant will be available in Black, Blue, Pink, Red, and Orange colour options, while the 64GB variant would only be available in Black.
The Sony NW-ZX100HN is the new addition to the company’s ZX Walkman series. It features 3-inch TFT colour LCD display with QVGA (400 x 240 pixels) resolution. It comes with 128Gb internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 64GB via a microSD card. The device also comes with Hi-Res noise cancelling headphones. It offers up to 45 hours of battery life when listening to 24bit/192kHz FLAC audio files.
Sony H.ear Headphones
Sony also launched its H.ear foldable headphones, which it claims to be the best ones to play Sony’s 24bit Hi-Res Audio. The headphones feature low impedance of 24 Ohm and has 40mm HD drivers along with a frequency response of 5Hz – 60,000Hz. The headphones come with tangle free flat-designed cables and weigh roughly 220 grams. The Sony H.ear Foldable Headphones have been priced at $200 and will be available in November.The headphone are available in Lime Yellow, Viridian Blue, Charcoal Black, Bordeaux Pink and Cinnabar Red colour options.

The company also launched ‘H.ear in NC’ in-ear headphones under the H.ear series. These come with ‘AI Noise Cancelling’ which assesses the level of background noise to auto choose the best setting. The headphones includes a frequency response ranging from 5Hz to 40,000Hz and features a 9mm high-sensitivity driver unit along with an impedance of 32 Ohm. The active noise cancelling in-ear headphones can run for 16 hours in a stretch and will be available in the same colour variants as the H.ear over-the-head headphones.
