Rumors have been suggesting that the HTC One V might be succeeded by HTC’s latest smartphone the HTC Proto. According to NDTV Gadgets, pictures of the handset have been leaked online suggesting that the device is closer to launch. Now this handset might be unveiled at the IFA event scheduled to kick-off next week, at least this is what the rumors have been suggesting over the past few days.

While reports suggest that the HTC Proto is likely to be the successor of the HTC One V that the handset is in fact a beefed up version of the HTC Desire V.

Reportedly, the HTC Proto features a 4-inch WVGA touch display with a resolution of 480 x 800p. The smartphone is powered by a 1GHz dual core Snapdragon processor paired alongside 768MB of RAM and runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The device features HTC’s Sense 4.0 user interface and 4GB of internal storage which is expandable via a microSD card slot. The handset also features a 5MP camera with LED flash.

Other features include a microSIM card slot, Beats audio, Bluetooth, 3G and a 3.5mm audio jack. The whole ensemble is packed inside a shell that measures 9.62mm in thickness and weighs around 114g. The handset comes equipped with a 1650 mAh battery to provide the necessary power back-up.

So looking at the specs it won’t be wrong to say that the HTC Proto is indeed a beefed up version of the Desire V, while the design looks to be inspired by the higher-end devices of HTC’s One series.
