HTC, Taiwanese mobile manufacturer has announced that it will be soon rolling out an update to bring full language support for Hindi, Tamil and Marathi on its HTC One and Desire smartphones series, including HTC One X, HTC One S, HTC One V, HTC Desire C and HTC Desire V.

HTC is committed to facilitate their Indian consumers to communicate easily through a more intuitive mobile experience, which can only be offered with full Indian language capability on their smartphones.

With the help of this update, users will be able to read and write in Hindi, Tamil and Marathi languages through all the messaging functions on HTC smartphones, and also while browsing the Internet and accessing Android apps on the Google Play store. It is also stated that users can read Bengali on select applications available on Google Play Store from next month. However, presently there is no information whether these applications will be provided either by the company or through third party developers. It is significant that HTC had indicated that it will be bring all the Indian languages support, when it will launch the HTC Explorer in Q4 2011 and it has finally acted on that promise now.

In June 2012, Google also had announced system-wide support for 18 new input languages in Android 4.1 ‘Jelly Bean’ which included Indian languages like Hindi, Kannada, Telugu and Malayalam and improved support for bi-directional languages like Arabic and Hebrew.

HTC is persisting to be the smartphone brand of choice for the India market due to the focus on what the consumer needs, and delivering that in an encompassing, holistic manner.
