Coolpad has finally launched its much awaited Note 5 smartphone in India. The new smartphone is exclusively available on Amazon India at Rs. 10,999. With heavy-duty features such as a big battery and RAM, the Coolpad Note 5 offers a great value for money. It looks quite impressive on paper. Now, lets a quick look at the new Coolpad Note 5.

At just Rs 10,999, the new smartphone is in direct competition with the likes of Redmi Note 3. The specs include 13MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, Snapdragon 617 CPU, 4GB RAM, 32GB internal storage [expandable up to 64GB], Android 6.0 with Cool 8 UI, fingerprint sensor, 5.5-inch full HD display, and 4,010mAh battery.
Once you open the box, you will find the phone on top. The new smartphone is quite heavy at 173g. Other box contents include screen guard, SIM-opener, user manuals, 2 amp wall charger, USB cable, and headphones [no volume keys].
The new Coolpad Note 5 features a premium full-metal design. It comes in Noble Black and Champagne Gold color options. The diamond-cut edges give the phone a premium feel. The matte finish on the back does not attract much fingerprints. The metal phone and large battery makes the phone a little heavy. The sensor unlock the smartphone in about 0.5 seconds. It also allows you to make, receive and record calls.
The new smartphone features standard design placements with Power button and SIM card slot on right, micro-USB and mic on the bottom edge, Volume keys on the left, and a 3.5mm jack on top. On the back, a 13MP camera is placed in the top-middle section with a LED flash for company. Just below the camera, you will find a beautiful looking fingerprint sensor. While the speaker grill is place on the bottom-middle section.
The front section sports an 8MP camera and a LED flash on top, along with ear-piece and sensors. The shortcut keys are placed at the usual place on the bottom end. Overall, the Coolpad Note 5 looks better than its price might suggest.
The 5.5-inch display with full HD resolution is quite bright and crisp. Once you switch off the auto, it gets very bright. It does attract a lot of fingerprint, but the 5.5-inch size and full HD resolution are perfect combination for a sharp display.
Right on home screen, you have apps. There are no dedicated app drawers. It runs Cool UI 8.0, based on top of Android Marshmallow. After about a days usage, the smartphone offers about 2.5GB free RAM our of 3.5GB of available RAM. Coolpad’s memory management is still one of the best. Out of 32GB internal storage, the Note 5 offers around 22GB of storage. It is powered by a 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor with Adreno 405 GPU.
Among pre-installed apps, you will get the usual Google apps and lot of Coolpad in-house apps such as Rock wallpaper, finger print, etc. It also comes with Amazon app. The new smartphone will be available via open sale on Amazon form October 18th.
The 13MP rear camera is very smooth and fast, thanks to a a CMOS sensor, f/2.2 aperture, and 5P lens. It offers all usual camera features found on Coolpad smartphones including full HD video recording capability.
The front camera is also very bright, thanks to 5P Lens, and f/2.2 aperture. It offers 80.1 degree wide angle, which looks good. It does a lag a tad bit though. The front camera also comes with features such as HDR and beauty filters.
The Coolpad Note 5 looks very promising and a mouth watering prospect at just under 11K. We will comeback with a full review after testing all the performance in real world.
