The CyanogenMod has included a much-needed feature in their custom ROM versions. If you are running nightlies, starting today you will an additional feature in the setting menu. Similar in lines with the OTA updates, the CM updater allowing you to automatically check for updates and install then. The intention is to reduce your manual efforts.

The feature resides in Settings > About phone > CyanogenMod updates. You should get the latest nightlies first. Else this will not work. Moreover, the checks and installs are limited to the 10th version of CM only. The custom recovery option is not there and you would need ClockWorkMod recovery installed.

Try this out on your handheld. CM team has claimed that this is not very refined currently, so feel free drop your issues on the CM forum.
