At CES 2016, Panasonic has announced a new tele zoom lens along with two new compact digital cameras [the Lumiz DMC-ZS100 and Lumix DMC-ZS60], and five new camcorders. The two digital still cameras come with an option to change focus after the image has been taken, using similar computational imaging technology based on multiple image capture. Panasonic is calling it ‘Post-Focus’. The technology has been seen earlier in several smartphones and a Lytro cameras.
The company announced a Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmar 100-400mm f/4-6.4 ASPH lens for its line of Micro Four Thirds system cameras. The new telephoto zoom lens comes with Power Optical Image Stabilization. It is the longest focal length lens for Micro Four Thirds, consisting of 20 elements in 13 groups and a powerful 35mm equivalent range of a 200-800mm lens. Other key features include 240fps AF Drive, Zoom ring lock, Weather Sealing, Integrated Quick Shifting Tripod Mount, Integrated shift-away lens-hood, 9 rounded diaphragm blades, 72mm filter and closest focus of 4.27 feet. The Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmar 100-400mm lens will be available in April at a price of $1,799.99 [Pre-orders available now].
Panasonic also announced two new 4K UHD camcorders and three full-HD models ranging from semi-pro models to affordable consumer camcorders: the WXF991 [priced at $899.99, a 4K camcorder with an electronic viewfinder, a 20x optical zoom, 5-axis hand shake detection, Twin Camera, HDR movie capture, and built-in Wi-Fi], the VX980 [almost similar to WXF991 but lacks the EVF and twin camera], the VX580 [priced at $399.99, new full-HD camcorder with, offering Twin Camera, 5-axis level shot function, HDR movie capture, built-in Wi-Fi, and 50x optical zoom lens that includes a 28mm (equivalent) wide-angle lens], the V380 [priced at $329.99, offers similar features as the VX580, except Twin Camera and HDR movie recording capabilities], and the V180 [priced at $229.99, offers the similar features as the V380 except Wi-Fi].
