At CES 016, DJI has announced a lower-cost ultra-high resolution unmanned picture-taking aircraft, called the DJI Phantom 3 4K. The new contraption sports most of the features from the DJI Phantom 3 Professional. It comes with the ability to automatically fly to pre-set points, allowing you to concentrate on capturing still images and video footage. The DJI Phantom 3 4K will be available at a price of $799.
The DJI Phantom 3 4K is capable of GPS Outdoor positioning and Vision positioning with ultrasonic sensors. It features a 20mm (35mm equivalent) f/2.8 lens with a 94-degree field of view and an 1/2.3-inch 12.4MP sensor, which offers 4K [4096 x 2160p] maximum video resolution at 24, 25 and 30fps. The camera has an ISO range of 100-3200 and shutter speed of 8-1/8000 sec. It offers up to 7fps burst rate. The DJI Phantom 3 4K has a 25-minute flying time capability on a single charge [battery time remaining status is streamed live to your mobile device]. The 3-axis gimbal keeps the camera level, and DJI’s aerial stabilization technology keeps the footage smooth. Also, the removable filter ring allows for ND filters.
The DJI Phantom 3 4K is controlled via a remote controller via Wi-Fi, with a maximum range of 1200 meters, or approximately 0.75 miles. It has the top flight speed of 16 meters per sec, a maximum ascent speed of 5 meters per sec, a maximum descent speed of 3 meters per sec, and the gimbal controllable pitch range of -90 to + 30 degrees. The recording image can be viewed on your mobile device via the DJI Go app. The app also controls Intelligent Flight Modes, which allows you to pre-program the flight route and duration, and program in ‘Waypoints’ and ‘Points of Interest’ where the drone hovers as you shoot video footage.
