ASUS Transformer Book is a Notebook That Transforms Into a Tablet
From any angle you look at it, the ASUS Transformer Book appears to be a normal ultrabook. But there’s more than meets the eye. In line with the ASUS Tablet 600, 810 and the Transformer Prime, the Transformer Book looks similar in concept but with larger screens and more power. Of course it will run on Windows8.
The Transformer Book is powered by the latest Intel Core i7 Ivy Bridge processor along with a 4GB DDR3 RAM. It also promises discrete graphics instead of the integrated HD 4000 GPU. It will be available in 11.6, 13 and 14 inch screens, featuring full HD 1920 x 1080 IPS displays with multi-touch support. The storage will have SSD and HDD options. Also present are USB 3.0, a 5MP back camera and a HD front camera.
The Book’s screen can be detached completely from the full size QWERTY keyboard. Although the battery life is not known yet, there are seemingly two battery packs, one in the keyboard, and another in the screen/tablet.
As the tagline says, “The notebook that’s a tablet”, the Transformer Book is claimed by ASUS to be the slimmest Ivy Bridge i7 device available. But its performance remains to be seen as compared to the iPad when in Tablet mode and the MacBook Air, when in notebook mode. The pricing and availability remains to be known. So, keep posted for more.
