Apple has finally launched the Apple Watch in India. The new smartwatch has been launched two sizes (38 mm and 42 mm) and three variants – Apple Watch Sport, Apple Watch and Apple Watch Edition. The Apple Watch will be available in Gold, Rose Gold, Space Gray, Silver Anodized Aluminium, polished Silver or Space Black stainless steel and 18-Carat Rose Gold and Yellow Gold colour options.
The Apple Watch with Silver Aluminium Case and White Sport Band has been priced at Rs 30,900 for the 38mm and Rs 34,900 for the 42mm variant. While the one sporting Stainless Steel Case with the White Sport Band will be available at Rs 48,900 and Rs 52,900 for the 38mm and 42mm variants, respectively. Among others, the one with stainless steel Link Bracelet will cost you Rs 95,900, while the Classic Buckle leather strap option in two colours costs Rs 60,900. There s also a red coloured sport band option.
The Apple Watch Edition [made in 18-Carat Rose gold casing] starts at Rs 8.2 lakh for the 38mm variant and at Rs 9,90,000 for the 42mm version. The price goes up to Rs 14.2 lakh for the most expensive version. The Apple Watch Hermes designer range has not been introduced in India.
The Apple Watch was introduced almost six months ago globally. The smartwatch comes with flexible retina display, which is a single crystal of sapphire with tiny electrodes around the display to recognize the difference between a tap and a press, allowing for different gestures to be made. And a linear actuator provides haptic feedback. The Apple Watch’s so-called Taptic Engine can even provide slightly different vibrations for left and right turns within the Maps app. There are four sensors on the back – infrared, visible light sensors and photo sensors, which can detect your heart rate.
The smartwatch can be personalized with several watch faces including traditional analog such as the Chronograph face, Modular face, animated butterflies and jellyfish on the Motion face. Other features include sunrise/sunset, upcoming calendar events or daily activity level. Users can simply swipe up from the watch face for ‘Glances’ to get customized information ranging from weather forecast and current location to the music you’re listening to. It also comes with an Activity app that provides simple visual snapshot of your daily activity with three rings that measure active calories burned, brisk activity and how often you stand or take a break. While the Workout app, offers detailed metrics of workout sessions for activities like walking, running and cycling.
