Telecom minister of India Kapil Sibal has announced that the long awaited Aakash 2 tablet would finally launch on November 11. According to Techtree, Mr. Sibal has said that on November 11 the President of India would be seen talking to 20,000 students with their hands on the latest gen Aakash tablet across the nation.
Although detailed specifications are not available, the Aakash 2 tablet is expected to feature a 7-inch capacitive multi-touch screen running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The tablet is said to offer 2GB of internal storage along with SIM and mobile functionality.
Connectivity features is said to include Wi-Fi, GPRS, microSD and USB port, while the 3200mAh battery promises 4 hours of usage.
The Aakash 2 tablet is also expected to feature a 1GHz ARM Cortex A9 processor.
Mr. Sibal has also said that there are plans to manufacture around 5 million units and that price would be brought down to Rs 1,500 after the manufacturing process kicks off.
Plagued by controversy and delay the Aakash 2 tablets are finally going to see the lights, and with a Government subsidized price along with a 1GHz processor and all that specs its sure to bring technology to everyone.
